In San Francisco, the 49ers are trying to rebuild their organizational structure and their coaching efficiency.

While many may have applauded their hiring of former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, there were are a great number of people, myself included, that were baffled by the hiring of John Lynch as general manager, especially since Lynch, a former NFL player, has no head office experience.

While we wait to see just how everything plays out in San Francisco, both Shanahan and Lynch at least have their duties divided up.

“We’re watching a lot of film, which, we’re doing a lot together and a lot separate,” Shanahan said to KNBR on Friday. “John and the whole personnel department are going through the draft stuff right now. Which, me and the coaches aren’t yet at the draft. We’re watching our own players and free agents. We’ll get to the draft really starting in Indy…”

Shanahan also indicated that he is also overseeing defensive coordinator Robert Saleh’s installation of the new defensive system, the same system the Seahawks employ in Seattle.

After quick and forgettable tenures of prior head coaches Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly let’s hope the Niners give the new regime some time to build their structure.
