The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the NBA’s more active teams as the annual trade deadline approaches.
In years past they have pulled off trades that have helped bolster their roster over the past couple of seasons.
It appears that they are looking to continue that tradition.
Marc Stein of ESPN reports that the Thunder are interested in Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson. Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today later reported he was told the Bulls have been seeking a first-round pick for Gibson
According to sources, the Bulls and Thunder are in active trade talks that would send Gibson to the Thunder for an undisclosed draft pick.
Gibson told Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago that he is used to all of the trade talk.
“Of course [the trade talk is] gonna get hotter,” Gibson said. “No matter what happens, you’re still in the NBA. You’re still getting paid a lot of money to play basketball. People don’t understand that. They think it’s bad half the time. No it’s not. It’s the same paycheck, just on a different team.”
“I’ve been hearing the chatter for years. But you never know,” Gibson said. “I just keep my head straight, focus on the team I’m on at the moment, because if you start looking at other teams and other stuff, it kinda gets tricky as hell.”
By the end of today Gibson may be wearing a Thunder uniform.
