For Raw, they featured a surprise when they had not only Dolph Ziggler on Raw, but he brought Drew McIntyre with him! Raw was in desperate need of tag teams going into this shakeup and this is a team that I didn’t expect to see. These two laid out the Titus Brand and made an immediate impact for the show. It will be interesting to see how these two do on the show.
For Smackdown, they got a much needed addition with Samoa Joe! He made his debut by defeating Sin Cara and then cut a great promo after the match. He ran down each superstar and it made fans look forward to see what he can bring to the brand. Overall, this is one of the best additions for the superstar shakeup.
For Raw, the Riott Squad made their debut on Raw by interrupting the Sasha Banks and Bayley match. The only bad part I have about this is how Raw handled the Sasha Banks and Bayley matchup. For weeks, they were building for a match between them, but then when they finally have the match, it gets interrupted. This may lead to them teaming back up to take on the Riott Squad, which people wouldn’t really care to see.
For Smackdown, I didn’t like how Smackdown made it seem that Asuka was part of the superstar shakeup. When she made her decision to face Charlotte at Wrestlemania, it was pretty clear that she was going to Smackdown. So, to make it seem she is being added to the roster when she was already part of it is a bad look for WWE.
The Final Verdict
With the superstar shakeup this week, we knew that we would see some surprises. Overall, I would say that Smackdown ended up the big winners from this shakeup because they got Big Cass, Samoa Joe, Gallows and Anderson, Jeff Hardy, and other great talents. Raw did end up getting Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Jinder Mahal, and Bobby Roode, which are all great additions and these are talents that were ready for the move to Raw. As far as which show was better this week, I would say that Smackdown had the better show this week again. They had a great main event, gave the women’s division lots of segments this week to help reestablish who is in the division, as well as show off their new additions. In conclusion, this shakeup did benefit both brands and fans should look forward to see where these additions go from here.
