Mississippi State Suspends Nick Fitzgerald for Season Opener

Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead announced that senior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald has been officially suspended for Saturday’s season opening game against Stephen F. Austin due to a violation of team rules back in March.

Additionally, senior defensive tackle Cory Thomas is also suspended for the opener.

Fitzgerald, who has been the Bulldogs’ starter the past two seasons, threw for 1,782 yards, 15 touchdowns and rushed for 984 yards and 14 touchdowns last season, a season that ended due to an ankle injury in the final game of the season.
