Florida has landed Top 40 center Omar Payne, as the big man has officially committed to the Florida Gators, according to 247Sports.
“I’m headed to Florida,” Payne said. “I picked them because I was the most comfortable with them.
“They recruited me hard. They have a great coaching staff. I really liked their recruiting class too and I’m looking forward to getting a national championship.”
Payne pointed to his connection with Florida head coach Mike White as a factor in his decision process.
“I know I can sit down with coach White and be comfortable and that really stuck out to me,” Payne said.
“What sticks out the most to me is he’s a young coach. He’s more understanding. He’s a great, understanding dude. He’s high-energy and works hard every day.”
“I like the environment and the players,” said Payne. “When I took the trip, it was different. The players, I felt like I had a connection with them when I went there.”
“I can help them because I spread the floor a little bit,” said Payne. “I can play the four and the five. I can guard the four and the five. I work hard. I’m versatile. I can switch on defense. I have a good motor.”
