Utah Jazz Interested In Re-Acquiring Deron Williams, Trading Derrick Favors

The Utah Jazz are having exploratory talks with the Dallas Mavericks for Deron Williams, according to sources and the Jazz are described as being “very interested” in re-acquiring the guard.

Williams, 32, who maintains a home in Salt Lake City, would have to forfeit his free-agent Bird rights if he is dealt to another team.

The Jazz need to address the injuries to George Hill who, when on the court, helps Utah’s success. The numbers don’t lie; the Jazz are 23-9 when Hill plays and 12-13 when he does not.

Williams was taken 3rd overall by Utah in the 2005 draft and is in his 2nd season with the Mavericks, posting 13.1 points and 6.9 assists per game though injuries have limited him to only 40 games.

The Jazz are enjoying a solid season but are eyeing potential moves as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

Utah is also interested in dealing the struggling Derrick Favors and will entertain trade proposals and conversations regarding the forward as the trade deadline inches closer.
