New York Knicks Working To Acquire Timberwolves Ricky Rubio

The New York Knicks are actively working the phones ahead of this afternoon’s trade deadline, though the name they are discussing isn’t Carmelo Anthony.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports that Minnesota Timberwolved guard Ricky Rubio “remains a significant target” for the Knicks.

Sam Amick of USA Today tweeted that other teams are involved in talks with Minnesota regarding Rubio, so the Knicks have some competition.

ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that there are talks between the Knicks about a Rubio-for-Derrick Rose trade but that the Knicks want another asset included in the deal to complete the trade.

It is unclear what the Knicks are looking for.

Rubio spoke to Jerry Zgoda of Star Tribune back in January about all of the trade rumors.

“Just do what I do,” Rubio said. “My name or every name is going to be out there at some point, but you can only worry about things you can control. Right now, what I can control is playing my best and do what I’ve been doing.”
