After Winning The El Clasico Does Barcelona Have The Chance To Clinch A Double?

Messi After a big win at Santiago Barnabeu over Real Madrid, Barcelona are now on course for a double. They are back on the race for the La Liga title and the Copa del rey cup. They showed that they are a world class team with a fantastic 3-2 win over their bitter rivals. With a late stoppage time goal by Lionel Messi, Barcelona have opened wide the race to the La Liga title.

Lionel Messi scored a double during the El Clasico match which ensured that Barcelona jumped their rival to the top of the La Liga table. For Lionel Messi, he has  now scored 500 goal for Barcelona as a professional player. They are now on the verge of clinching a double and give Luis Enrique a perfect send off.

Clinching the Double

Barcelona now have a task in hand to be able to clinch both the Copa del rey cup and the La Liga title. Although Barcelona are leading the La Liga table on goal difference, their rivals Real Madrid have a game in hand. This means that Barcelona should not lose any of their five games left. They will hope that Real Madrid drop some points in their remaining games or lose one or two games.

Lionel Messi was considered as a ‘work of art’ and also as ‘unique’ by the Spanish media Mundo Deportivo. This was through his genius work to give his team a lifeline for the La Liga title. Barcelona faces Diportivo Aves in the Copa del rey final next month on May 27th at Vicente Calderon. In this game, they have a high chance of winning the cup.

Their last two games of the season for the La Liga title will involve Las Palmas away and Eibar at home. This will be their last match before the Copa del rey final match against Alves.

For Barcelona’s bitter rivals Real Madrid include Deportivo la Coruna away and Valencia at home. After Valencia they will travel to Granada before hosting Sevilla at the Barnabeu. Their last two games involve Malaga at home and Celta Vigo away. Real Madrid have got two UEFA champions league games against city rivals Athletico Madrid.

Barcelona have only six games while Real Madrid have got eight games before the end of the season. With fewer games than their rivals Real Madrid, they have got a upper hand of winning La Liga title.

The race to the La Liga title is going to be an interesting fight for the two teams who are at the top of the la Liga chart. It is a race to watch in the coming month as the season nears to an end.
