Nike, NBA Unveil 2017-18 Uniforms With 3D Body Maps And Recycled Materials

On Tuesday the NBA and Nike unveiled a preview of the defending champion Golden State Warriors’ uniform which serves as an example of the Nike jerseys that NBA teams will be using starting in the upcoming 2017-2018 season.

The jerseys are part of an NBA/Nike partnership that was announced in June 2015.

Nike utilized 25 years of research from all levels of basketball and the input of current NBA players to design the refined version of the Aeroswift basketball chassis.

Nike employed 3D body maps of players, including heat and sweat maps, due to the long grind of the 82-game NBA season. This research was done to improve players’ agility and significant changes were made to the fit, weight and the construction of the NBA uniform allowing a full range of motion.

Nike’s uniform is a combination of Alpha Yarns and recycled polyester.

The NBA is also eliminating its “Home” and “Road” uniform designations as Nike and the NBA have worked together to create four primary uniforms.

These uniforms, the Association and Icon Edition, will be unveiled in the coming months.

The Association Edition uniform will be the traditional home white uniform.

The Icon Edition uniform represents the “road jersey” and will emphasize the team’s rich heritage and iconic identity.

Classic Edition uniforms will be a form of a “throwback” jersey that will be available in the fall.
