Cris Cyborg vs. Holly Holm, Women’s Featherweight Title

It’s official!!! UFC 219 has booked its first title fight, and it should be a barnburner.

The UFC always looks to end the year with a huge event and Cyborg (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) vs. Holm (11-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) is a great addition to an already great card.

Cyborg, who many consider to be the most dominant female fighter ever captured the Women’s 145 pound strap in July of this year by defeating former Invicta FC 135 pound champion Tonya Evinger by third round TKO.

Holm, a world champion boxer, began her MMA career winning 10 consecutive fights with her tenth victory being her biggest by far when she knocked out women’s MMA legend “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. Holm would capture the 135 pound title that night, a title that she would drop to Miesha “cupcake” Tate at UFC 196 when she was submitted in the fifth round by RNC.

Holm would drop three fights in a row before returning to her winning ways in devastating fashion by knocking out Brazilian Bethe Correia with a head kick just seconds after Correia taunted Holm during their fight at UFC Singapore.

Holm and Cyborg are two of the best strikers in the game and arguably two of the promotions biggest stars. Those attributes combined with the technique and speed of Holm and the ferociousness and strength of Cyborg make this one a fight that could easily steal the show.

UFC 219 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 30th.
