Ex-Cal Tre Watson Heading To Texas As Graduate Transfer

Former Cal running back Tre Watson is on his way to Texas for the 2018 season as a graduate transfer, he announced on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

Watson appeared in 37 games for the Golden Bears and was the team’s starter in 2017 before tearing his ACL in Week 2 against Weber State.

“I left Cal to experience bigger football,” Watson said, according to ESPN. “I couldn’t turn down this opportunity to play on one of the biggest stages in college football.”

Watson had 1,390 rushing yards, 657 kick return yards and 379 receiving yards at Cal including 13 touchdowns over his 8 games started.

Watson’s best season came in 2016 when he rushed for career highs in rushing, 709, and receiving, 241.

Watson will graduate from Cal later this month.
