Mater Dei running back Sean Dollars has announced on Sunday that he will play his college ball at the University of Oregon.
Oregon won out in the selection process, against other schools such as Florida State, Georgia, Nevada, Washington and USC.
“The biggest reason I chose Oregon was because of coach (Jim) Mastro and the plan he has for me,” Dollars said (h/t 247Sports). “He has a big plan to use me and get my going my freshman year. The running back situation there looks a little iffy in terms of the depth so there’s a great opportunity to step in and make an immediate impact.
“I also like how I fit in with the offense. They see me as an every down back that can move me around and not just carry the ball but play in the slot as well. They have a lot of difference schemes and ways they plan to use me so I can make an immediate impact there.”
Dollars will see familiar faces when he arrives, as his Mater Dei teammates, Mase Funa and Keyon Ware-Hudson will be joining him.
“It means a lot go have some of my Mater Dei teammates going with me because I know we can all depend on each other. I love coming in with those guys and playing together with Thomas (Graham) and Jaylon (Redd). We’re all very close and I’m going to hopefully try and bring a few more big time players in with me.
“Two guys I plan to recruit hard are Chris Steele and DJ (Uiagalelei). Those are the two guys I want up there with me. I think Oregon is such a great opportunity and that’s why I’m going there.
“I know some people think I picked Oregon just for the jerseys but that has nothing to do with it. I picked Oregon because it’s the best opportunity for me. You have to go where you fit in and where you can do your thing and for me, that was Oregon.”
