The University of Kansas have found their new athletic director as the Jayhawks have hired Jeff Long to fill the role, the school announced in a official release Thursday afternoon.
Long was previously athletic director at Arkansas from 2008-2017 and will take over for Sheahon Zenger, who was fired in May.
Long’s deal comes in at $1.5 million per year for five years. Long was inaugural College Football Playoff selection chairman in both 2014 and 2015 and was also selected as the 2015 Athletic Director of the Year by both the SportsBusiness Journal and Sports Business Daily, so his reputation is solid.
Long was fired by Arkansas last November due to the team’s on-field struggles.
